Two Men In Court Over Alleged Bank Access Code Deal

Two men have been taken to court by an anti-corruption agency over allegations that they illegally shared banking access codes.

Gideon Bakpa Aghogho and Oscar Ebere Chukwuebuka appeared before a judge in Lagos on Wednesday.

They’re accused, along with a third suspect who’s still missing, of unlawfully providing access codes that would let someone into a bank’s computer systems.

The charges suggest that Aghogho and Chukwuebuka supplied an access code to a major bank’s system between July 24 and 26 this year in Lagos.

The code would have allowed entry into the bank’s virtual platform and was allegedly given to help commit a crime.

Another charge says Aghogho disclosed banking access details including server information without permission between April and May last year.

He allegedly gave this information to someone in exchange for $15,000, to help them access the bank’s database.

When asked to respond in court, Aghogho said he wasn’t guilty. Chukwuebuka admitted guilt.

The prosecution asked the judge to keep both men in custody and set a trial date for Aghogho.

For Chukwuebuka, prosecutors asked for more time to review the facts now that he’s pleaded guilty.

The judge postponed everything until August 27 and ordered both men to remain in jail until the next hearing.
