US Lobbying Firm Moves Against Possible Tinubu Trump UN Meeting

Von Batten-Montague-York L.C., a lobbying firm with headquarters in the United States, has taken action to prevent President Bola Tinubu and US President Donald Trump from meeting at the next UN General Assembly.

In a post online, the Washington-based lobbying firm addressed comments made by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim.

The company claimed to have shown senior Trump administration officials a video showing Jimoh Ibrahim’s comments.

Recall that Ibrahim stated in a TV interview a few weeks ago that President Tinubu and President Trump would likely meet outside of the UN General Assembly next month.

In response, the company announced that it will also distribute the information to State Department officials and members of the US Congress.

It further stated that, notwithstanding ongoing disputes over past court records in the US, it thinks that any meeting between Tinubu and Trump could be seen by some Nigerians as an endorsement of the Nigerian president.

Senior members of President Donald Trump’s administration have seen the footage. We will also share it with the State Department and members of Congress in the upcoming days.

According to the company’s statement online, “President Tinubu and his associates are attempting to convince Nigerians and the world that President Trump condones the drug trafficking allegations against Tinubu.”
