Residents in and around Lelystad may see and hear military transport aircraft flying lower than usual in September.
The flights form part of Falcon Leap, an international military exercise organised by the Dutch armed forces.
The exercise will run from Monday, September 7, to Friday, September 18, 2026.
Military aircraft will operate from Eindhoven Air Base and fly over different parts of the Netherlands and Belgium.
Lelystad lies within the flying area used by participating aircraft. The planes may be more visible and produce more noise because they will fly at lower altitudes than normal.
The training will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 11:59 p.m.
During Falcon Leap, military personnel will practise dropping cargo and paratroopers.
No cargo or parachutists will be dropped in Lelystad. The city is mainly part of the route used by aircraft travelling to and from the exercise locations.
The training helps pilots and military teams improve their ability to conduct airborne operations with international partners.
Aircraft from several countries are expected to participate.
The military will try to avoid hospitals, protected nature areas and other sensitive locations where possible.
Flight schedules may change because of weather conditions, aircraft availability or other operational issues.
On Saturday, September 19, some of the aircraft will participate in a commemoration of Operation Market Garden at Ginkelse Heide near Ede.
Residents who experience serious noise disturbance can submit a complaint through the Dutch Defence Ministry’s aircraft noise service.
