2026: Ekiti PDP candidate promises inclusive governance

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Dr Oluwole Oluyede, on Saturday outlined a broad governance vision anchored on inclusivity, transparency and sustainable development.

Oluyede said his aspiration to lead Ekiti State was driven by a genuine desire to improve the quality of life of all residents, particularly the common people who, according to him, form the backbone of the state.

The PDP candidate, who spoke in a chat with journalists in Ikere Ekiti on his governance plan, said, “My ambition is for the generality of Ekiti State. Governance under my watch will be designed to deliver real impact across communities.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed June 20 for the election for the position of governor of Ekiti State, which will be contested by candidates of 13 political parties.

Oluyede stressed that if elected in the June 20 election, his administration would prioritise policies and programmes that directly address the needs and aspirations of the people.

He said his leadership approach would be guided by the principles of good governance, accountability and purposeful coordination.

“Our government will operate a seamless administrative structure where all arms and levels of government work in synergy to achieve clearly defined developmental objectives.

“My priority is the betterment of every common Ekiti person. No group will be marginalised under my leadership. Our administration’s policies will cut across all strata of society, irrespective of educational, occupational or social background,” he said.

Oluyede, who pledged to drive social, economic and infrastructural transformation across the state, harped on the need to expand economic opportunities, support small and medium-scale enterprises and improve access to essential services such as healthcare, education and rural development.

He also assured that transparency and accountability would remain central pillars of his administration, noting that public trust was critical to achieving meaningful governance outcomes.

Oluyede said his government would be open, responsive and committed to delivering measurable progress that citizens can see and feel, adding, “My vision is to build a state where prosperity is shared and opportunities are accessible to all. Inclusive governance remains the surest path to long-term stability and development.”
