2027: Hayatu-Deen declares bid for ADC presidential ticket

Renowned economist, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has declared his intention to contest for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket, positioning himself as a steady leader for Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, Hayatu-Deen’s Media Office said the declaration was made during his appearance on a popular television programme on Wednesday.
Hayatu-Deen said that the moment demanded leadership that understood citizens’ daily struggles, adding that he possessed the experience required to address the economic challenges currently facing the country and restore national stability.
He expressed the regret over what he called rising living costs as well as persistent increases in food and petrol prices, adding that many Nigerians now struggle daily to meet basic needs.
The economist also raised concerns about worsening insecurity, arguing that Nigeria now spends more on ransoms than adequately equipping security forces, while the Naira continued to weaken daily.
Hayatu-Deen pledged to offer a credible alternative, focused on stabilising the economy, restoring security and rebuilding trust in institutions through practical and achievable policy reforms.
Drawing on over four decades of experience, he cited his record in economic reforms, organisational turnarounds, investment attraction and education support, particularly in conflict-affected communities, as his major strengths.
The presidential aspirant called for unity within ADC, stressing that party cohesion would be critical to electoral success, while urging on Nigerians to support efforts at national renewal.
Hayatu-Deen also enjoined citizens to join him in building a functional Nigeria that would deliver security, economic growth and renewed hope.
