“A well-deserved recognition” – ADC hails Nwoye’s emergence as Senate Minority Whip

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has hailed the emergence of Tony Nwoye as the new Minority Whip of the Nigerian Senate.

The coalition party described Nwoye’s new role as a well-deserved recognition and a testament to his commitment, consistency, and courage towards preserving democratic values.

In a statement shared by Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the ADC also said that the lawmaker’s appointment reflects his capacity and further showcases the confidence in the ADC as a principled platform for responsible opposition.

Abdullahi said, “The African Democratic Congress (ADC) warmly congratulates Distinguished Senator Tony Nwoye on his emergence as the Minority Whip of the Senate.

“This well-deserved recognition is a testament to Senator Nwoye’s consistency, courage, and commitment to democratic values. His elevation reflects not only his personal capacity and credibility but also the growing confidence in the ADC as a principled platform for responsible opposition,” Abdullahi stated.

He also reaffirmed ADC’s confidence in the senator to work with diligence and balance while contributing immensely to activities in the legislature.

“We are confident that Senator Nwoye will bring diligence and balance to his new role and contribute meaningfully to the work of the National Assembly. Congratulations, Distinguished!” Abdullahi said.

Recall that Nwoye emerged as the minority leader of the Nigerian Senate following the defection of two lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, April 22.

His emergence as the minority caucus leader has also elicited reactions from top leaders within the coalition party including Peter Obi, a 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party.
