ADC youth council urges Atiku to address party challenges

The African Democratic Congress National Youth Council has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to focus on resolving internal party challenges and strengthening unity within the coalition.

In a statement released on Saturday by its President, Mohammed Rabiu, the council expressed concern over Atiku’s recent television interview and developments within the party.

The council emphasised the need for cohesive leadership and constructive engagement among party leaders and stakeholders.

“We urge the former Vice President to give priority attention to internal party issues and work towards bringing all stakeholders together,” Rabiu said.

The council noted the importance of addressing internal party matters, particularly in Adamawa State, where ongoing issues require attention and resolution.

It stressed the need for dialogue among party leaders and stakeholders to strengthen cohesion and ensure stability.

“Leadership at this level demands continuous consultation, understanding, and the ability to harmonize differing interests for the greater good of the party,” the statement added.

The council also highlighted the need to address pending legal and organizational matters within the party, noting that resolving such issues would help create a more stable and cohesive platform.

The council further asserted that the legal challenges initiated by Nafiu Gombe must be resolved before any debates regarding “popularity” can take place.

“Resolving outstanding legal and structural concerns will go a long way in strengthening the foundation of the coalition,” Rabiu noted.

While appealing for calm among party leaders, the youth council encouraged all stakeholders to maintain constructive engagement and avoid actions that could deepen divisions.

It also called on prominent leaders in the party, including Rabiu Kwankwaso, Peter Obi, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi, to exercise restraint.

“The ADC National Youth Council is appealing to other prominent leaders, including Rabiu Kwankwaso, Peter Obi, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi, to exercise restraint and urge them not to be drawn into a media war,” Rabiu said.

“We call on all leaders within the coalition to remain measured in their public engagements and continue to promote unity and cooperation,” he said.

The council concluded by reaffirming the need for unity, cooperation, and strategic leadership to strengthen the ADC and position the coalition for future political success.

“Unity, mutual respect, and collective responsibility remain essential as the party works towards achieving its long-term objectives,” Rabiu stated.
