Buckingham Palace has officially declined a request for King Charles III to meet with Sky Roberts, the brother of the late Virginia Roberts Giuffre, during his upcoming U.S. state visit.

The decision comes just days before the King is scheduled to arrive in Washington and New York on April 27. The Palace issued a rare, detailed statement explaining that such a meeting could interfere with “ongoing police inquiries” and “possible legal action” related to the King’s brother, the former Prince Andrew.

The Palace maintains that any engagement could be detrimental to future justice for survivors if it impacts active investigations or potential litigati on.

Since being stripped of his titles in 2025 and moving to the Sandringham Estate, Prince Andrew has remained under legal scrutiny, including a 2026 arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Sky Roberts sought the meeting to represent his sister who died by suicide last year, urging the King to acknowledge survivors of sexual abuse rather than focusing solely on diplomatic celebrations.

The four-day visit to Washington and New York marks a significant diplomatic moment, including scheduled meetings with U.S. leadership.

While the King has previously expressed “deepest concern” regarding the allegations surrounding his brother, the Palace’s stance indicates a strict boundary between state business and the ongoing legal fallout of the Epstein scandal
