‘Kwara Not Safe Haven For Criminals’ – New NSCDC Boss Warns

Abbas Nda Mohammed has officially assumed duty as the 16th Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State.

He took over leadership of the command on Monday, 14 April 2026, from Bala Bodinga Bawa, who has been redeployed to the Corps’ national headquarters in Abuja.
Naija News reports that Bodinga’s redeployment comes barely a month after he assumed office as the state commandant.
His transfer to Abuja marks a swift administrative reshuffle within the NSCDC.
Commandant Mohammed is regarded as a seasoned security professional with over two decades of experience in the Corps.
Over the years, he has served in several strategic positions across the country, including at the Zone 4 Headquarters in Minna.
He also previously held key roles such as Head of Operations at the NSCDC Kwara State Command, Head of Anti-Vandal Unit in Niger State Command, Area Commander in Kainji Local Government Area, and Divisional Officer in Edati LGA.
His experience further spans the Head of Counter-Terrorism Unit in Zamfara State Command, as well as multiple leadership positions within the Federal Capital Territory Command.
Before his latest deployment, Mohammed served as Commandant at the Zone 4 Headquarters in Minna.

Speaking after taking over, the new commandant reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property across Kwara State.
He said the command would prioritise the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure while strengthening intelligence-driven operations.
Mohammed issued a stern warning to criminal elements, vandals, and economic saboteurs to steer clear of the state.
“Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals. We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property,” he declared.
The commandant also pledged to deepen collaboration with other security agencies, traditional institutions, and relevant stakeholders.
According to him, such partnerships are essential to sustaining peace and enhancing security across the state.
He assured residents that the NSCDC under his leadership would adopt proactive and decisive measures to tackle all forms of criminality.
