NYSC urges corps members to avoid night travels

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised 2026 Batch A Stream II prospective corps members posted to Osun to avoid night travel for safety ahead of the April 22 orientation exercise.
The Osun NYSC Coordinator, Mr Ita Kubiangha, gave the advice in a statement by the scheme’s spokesperson, Mrs Catherine Otemuyiwa, on Tuesday in Osogbo.
Kubiangha urged corps members to prioritise safety by travelling during the day and using recognised motor parks with assistance from transport unions in the state.
He urged transport unions to assist corps members by conveying them to the orientation camp at approved rates.
According to him, the three-week orientation exercise for 2026 Batch A Stream II corps members will be held from April 22 to May 12.
He said the swearing-in ceremony would take place on April 24.
“We advise corps members that night travel exposes them to risks, including accidents and security threats.
“Parents and guardians should support and encourage their children as they undertake this phase of national service,” he said.
He urged corps members to adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and remain security conscious.
Kubiangha reiterated the commitment of the scheme and stakeholders to the welfare and security of all corps members deployed to the state. (NAN)
