US President Donald Trump will greet King Charles on Monday as the monarch makes an historic state visit to the United States amid growing tensions in the two countries’ ‘special relationship’.

The King’s US state visit will have “all appropriate security measures” in place, Britain’s ambassador to the US has said following what the White House has called an attempted assassination of President Donald Trump. The visit will come after Mr Trump repeatedly criticised Prime Minister Keir Starmer over a number of issues. The US President has repeately voiced his unhappiness with how the Sir Keir was handling the war in Iran, and his request to allow the use of military bases. Recently, he even warned the US could review its support of Britain’s claim to the Falkland Islands.
