Adeleye clinches APC ticket for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency
…sweeps 21 wards

Former Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections, following a landslide victory at the party’s primary election held on Saturday.
Adeleye dominated the exercise across all 21 wards of the constituency, polling a total of 25,167 votes.
Announcing the results at Ifo RCM 1, the party’s Electoral Officer, Wale Ajayi, said the breakdown showed overwhelming support for the former commissioner across the two local government areas.
“Adeleye scored 17,286 votes in Ifo Local Government Area and 7,881 votes in Ewekoro Local Government Area, bringing her total to 25,167 votes,” he declared in the presence of security operatives, INEC officials, and party stakeholders.
Reacting to her victory, Adeleye described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and reflective of the APC’s internal democratic culture.
“I am glad that the election witnessed massive participation by delegates, party faithful, and stakeholders across the two local government areas. Observers across wards described it as peaceful, orderly, transparent, and reflective of the internal democratic values of the APC,” she said.
She added that the conduct of the primary further demonstrated unity within the party.
“The election was conducted peacefully and transparently, reflecting the maturity, discipline, and unity within our great party. Beyond the outcome, today’s exercise demonstrates that the APC remains committed to internal democracy, fairness, and collective progress,” Adeleye stated.
The APC candidate also expressed appreciation to key political stakeholders and party leaders for their support, including Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the consensus gubernatorial candidate, Senator Adeola Olamilekan.
She further thanked party leaders and stakeholders across the constituency for their backing throughout the process.
It will be recalled that Adeleye’s candidature had earlier enjoyed wide endorsement from apex leaders and stakeholders across Ifo and Ewekoro.
Those who supported her bid include the Chairman of Ifo Apex Leaders, Chief Joju Fadairo; former House of Representatives member and Apex Leader in Ewekoro, Engr. Sina Adegbenro; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat; and former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo.
Others include members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Amosun and Hon. Fola Salami, representing Ewekoro and Ifo II State Constituencies respectively.
Also backing her aspiration were former Majority Leaders of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Israel Jolaoso and Hon. Bode Adeaga, alongside the Executive Chairmen of Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas, Hon. Idris Kushimo and Hon. Sikiru Adeshina, as well as several party elders, youth groups, women leaders and APC faithful across the constituency.
