APC primary: Oyetola, Oyebamiji, others queue to pick presidential candidate
By Shina Abubakar
Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State have thronged the 332 polling wards across the state to elect their presidential candidate as the party conducts its primary election.
The primary, which took place simultaneously across the wards, was delayed in some wards but began early in others.
At some of the wards monitored in Osogbo, Olorunda, Boripe, and Irewole, party bigwigs were seen in the queue waiting to be counted by the electoral officers.
At Ward one in Boripe Local Government Area, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, led the other party chieftains and members on the queue. In Irewole Local Government Area, the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, led the queue with other party chieftains.
At Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Area, the Osun State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassador, Sunday Akere, led many party stalwarts to the polling wards to elect their preferred candidate between President Bola Tinubu and Mr Stanley Osogbo.
Speaking with newsmen, Mr Akere said party members across the 332 wards took part in the exercise with a view to ensuring that President Tinubu emerged as the party candidate for the presidential election next year.
He added that Renewed Hope Ambassador coordinators across the 30 Local Government Council Areas are the president’s polling agents, while the state collation officer for the exercise, Minister Oyetola, would lead the collation exercise in the state.
“The Presidential Primary held in Osun State today went on smoothly without any crisis, the materials from the primary election committee were transported to the various local government and the wards on time.
“All party members mobilised to all the 332 wards to queue for our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the candidate of the party for 2027 election,” he said.
