Arsenal win first English Premier League title in 22 years

Arsenal have clinched their first English Premier League title in 22 years following Manchester City’s draw against Bournemouth.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now an unassailable four points clear at the top of the table with only one game left to play.

Eli Junior Kroupi opened the scoring for Bournemouth in the first half with a superb curling effort, while Erling Haaland netted a stoppage-time equaliser to give Manchester City late hope.

Across North London, Arsenal supporters gathered in pubs and around the Emirates Stadium to celebrate the club’s long-awaited return to the summit of English football.

Arteta’s team capped off an impressive campaign in which they spent much of the season at the top of the league, eventually fending off a late challenge from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The Gunners, who had finished runners-up in each of the previous three seasons, secured their first league crown since the famous 2003/04 “Invincibles” campaign under Arsène Wenger.

Arsenal’s title push looked uncertain in April after a 2-1 loss to City at the Etihad Stadium, but they responded strongly and maintained their advantage in the closing weeks of the season.

The triumph also ends a six-year wait for major silverware and marks Arteta’s second major trophy since becoming manager at the Emirates Stadium.

Focus now turns to Arsenal’s remaining fixtures, including Sunday’s final league match against Crystal Palace, where the Premier League trophy will officially be presented at Selhurst Park.

Arsenal could yet cap off a historic season with more silverware when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest on May 30.
