Eid-el-Kabir: Don’t allow religion divide us, Adeleke tells Osun residents

OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents of the state to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice and avoid acts capable of causing division along religious lines.

In his Eid-el-Kabir message, the governor congratulated Muslims on the celebration of the 2026 Eid-el-Adha, urging citizens to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, love, and compassion that define the sacred festival.

The statement, made available by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, described the festival as a season that reminds mankind of the importance of total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as well as the need to uphold peace, unity, and kindness in society.

“As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, I urge the people of Osun State to continue to pray for peace, unity, and progress in our dear state and nation. Let us also reflect on the journey so far and the visible impacts of good governance across our communities. Together, we will continue to build a better Osun for all,” the governor said.

“Do not allow anyone to use religion to divide us. Osun is a peaceful state and we must strive to retain that status irrespective of religious and political affiliations,” he added.

Adeleke stated that the vision of his administration aligns with the teachings of the season, which are rooted in service, fairness, and commitment to the welfare of the people.

He called on residents to use the festive period to assess the impact of his administration across critical sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare, and social development.

The governor affirmed that his administration remains committed to delivering people-oriented governance and sustainable progress across all communities in the state.

“As you drive through our towns and villages, assess our projects and services to the people. We are committed to serving you now and at all times,” he said.

He also reassured Muslim faithful and other residents of the state of his administration’s unwavering commitment to religious harmony, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for all citizens regardless of religious or political affiliation.
