Ex-gov rejects ‘fake’ APC primary results in Gombe Central, urges calm

A former Governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje, on Monday raised concerns over what he described as fake results being circulated from the ongoing All Progressives Congress senatorial primary election in Gombe Central.

The direct primary election, conducted across Akko and Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Areas, is yet to be officially concluded and announced, according to the senator’s camp.

However, alleged results claiming to reflect the outcome of the exercise have surfaced on some media and social media platforms.

Reacting through his Special Assistant, Ahmed Kashere, Goje urged party members, supporters, and residents of the district to disregard the purported results and remain calm pending the official declaration by the party.

“On behalf of His Excellency, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, I wish to advise the good people of Gombe Central Senatorial District, comprising Akko and Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Areas, to disregard the fake results being circulated by enemies of our great party as the outcome of the APC primary election for Gombe Central Senatorial District,” Kashere said.

He stressed that the authentic result of the primary election had not yet been announced, noting that the APC national headquarters in Abuja would release the official outcome in line with party guidelines.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the official result of the primary election has not yet been announced. In line with the guidelines issued by the national headquarters of our party, the APC, the authentic results will be released in Abuja,” he added.

Kashere appealed to party faithful and the general public to remain patient and await the official declaration.

“We therefore urge all party members, supporters and the general public to remain patient and await the official declaration of the results,” he said.

He added that Goje remained committed to due process and the rules guiding the party’s internal democratic process.

“As a respected lawmaker and elder statesman, His Excellency remains committed to due process and will continue to abide strictly by the rules and regulations of the party,” Kashere stated.
