Late at night on May 22 in Ekpoma, Edo State, a group of five young people were attacked by armed men while walking together.
Three of the boys managed to flee, but two girls were forcibly taken into nearby bushes.
The incident was documented in circulating videos and social media posts.
This is not an isolated event the area around Ambrose Alli University has been hit by a string of kidnappings throughout 2026.
Earlier on May 3, a similar attack turned deadly, and back in January, community unrest over the same issue resulted in 52 people being arrested.
Despite the repeated occurrences, Edo State police have yet to issue an official statement on the latest incident.
Local residents are growing increasingly frustrated as insecurity continues to grip communities across Nigeria that have long been troubled by criminal activity.
