It’s false – NELFUND finally speaks on suspension of students’ upkeep allowances

The Nigerian government has dismissed claims that it has suspended the Students Upkeep Allowance under its loan scheme.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund, disclosed in a statement by its spokesperson, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi on Thursday.
This comes amid reports making the rounds that the Nigerian government has suspended students’ upkeep allowances.
However, reacting, NELFUND, there is no directive on the suspension of upkeep allowances.
NELFUND described the claims as false and misleading.
“NELFUND also urges the public to refrain from sharing unverified content capable of spreading misinformation and causing unnecessary anxiety among students and parents nationwide.
“The Fund remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding access to higher education and supporting Nigerian students through sustainable financing initiatives,” the statement reads.
