Vanguard also reports that indications have emerged that the Federal Government may shoulder the full financial burden arising from the recent fire incident at the international terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, following the apparent absence of insurance cover for Nigerian airports.
Moving to the next paper, The Guardian leads with the chairman of the Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics LTD/GTE, Dele Oye, lamenting the unprecedented rise in public debt under President Bola Tinubu, noting that the N65.9 trillion borrowed by the administration in the last 24 months is more than five times the total debt Nigeria incurred in the first 55 years of its independence.
The Punch leads with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) which will today commence the process of selecting its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, with party members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory expected to participate in the exercise.
Lastly, The Nation reports that President Bola Tinubu on Sunday declared that his administration had already taken “giant steps forward” in repositioning Nigeria and warned against what he described as attempts by politicians without a clear alternative vision to reverse the country’s progress.
