NRM picks cleric Olorunmagba as Reps candidate for 2027

By Ibrahim Hassan-Wuyo
KABBA — The National Rescue Movement, NRM, has elected Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba as its candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Olorunmagba emerged at the party’s primary election held in Kabba on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the party, the exercise took place at its temporary secretariat and was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Participants described the primary as peaceful and orderly.
Olorunmagba, who currently serves as the NRM National Financial Secretary and was the party’s candidate for the same position in the 2023 general election, pledged to provide effective representation and promote the interests of his constituents if elected.
Speaking after his emergence, he said his candidature was dedicated to Nigerians seeking improved governance and greater opportunities.
“This victory is not just for me, but for Nigerians who desire effective representation and leadership that addresses their concerns and aspirations,” he said.
The cleric expressed concern over the nation’s security and economic challenges and promised to support legislative measures aimed at addressing them.
He stated that the NRM remained committed to its “Rescue Nigeria” agenda, which, according to him, is anchored on justice, accountability, transparency, equity and the rule of law.
Olorunmagba also pledged to prioritise youth empowerment, agriculture, education, healthcare, rural infrastructure, electricity supply and security if elected into the National Assembly.
“As a minister of God and a servant-leader, I believe politics should be about service, integrity and commitment to the welfare of the people,” he said.
Speaking after the exercise, the Kogi State Chairman of the NRM, Godwin Wambebe, commended party members and electoral officials for the conduct of the primary.
He said the exercise produced the party’s candidate in line with its internal guidelines and electoral requirements.
“The exercise was peaceful and orderly, and we are satisfied with the process,” Wambebe said.
He also thanked the party’s national leadership, members and INEC officials for their roles in ensuring the successful conduct of the primary.
Wambebe added that the party had intensified grassroots mobilisation efforts across Kogi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
