…Say intervention restoring hope, boosting business activities

Residents of Ogheghe community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State have commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for the ongoing road construction project in the area, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that is already improving livelihoods and easing movement.

The commendation came during the governor’s unscheduled visit to the community to assess the level of work done on the road project.

Residents, traders and pedestrians who spoke with journalists expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, noting that the construction had renewed hope among residents after years of hardship caused by the poor state of the road.

According to them, the once dusty and waterlogged road had become a nightmare for motorists, traders and schoolchildren, especially during the rainy season when movement within the community was often difficult.

A trader in the area, Victor Merit, said the road construction had started attracting more customers to the market as access to the community improved.

He said residents had suffered for years due to the deplorable condition of the road, particularly during heavy rainfall when it became nearly impassable.

Another resident, Mr Monday Orugbe, described Governor Okpebholo as a blessing to Edo State, noting that the road was previously in a terrible condition before the intervention.

He said the ongoing construction had brought relief to residents and expressed optimism that the project would improve transportation and economic activities in the area.

Pedestrians and schoolchildren also welcomed the development, describing the project as a major relief that would improve safety and reduce accidents.

The residents praised the governor for what they described as his commitment to infrastructural development across Edo State, saying the project reflected the administration’s resolve to improve living conditions.
