Pastor Bolaji criticised over choice of security at NLP-UK Conference

Pastor Bolaji Idowu, convener of the Next Level Prayer UK Conference, has come under criticism on social media over the heavy presence of security personnel at the recently concluded conference in London.

The controversy was sparked after blogger Johnson Alabi questioned the cleric’s decision to move with what he described as a “human barricade” despite the event taking place in what he called a relatively safe city.

Posting on Instagram, Alabi queried why the pastor required such a large security detail, a comment that quickly drew mixed reactions online and triggered intense debate among followers and attendees of the event.

While some social media users echoed concerns over the optics of the security arrangement, many supporters of the pastor accused the blogger of being insensitive and diverting attention from what they described as the conference’s spiritual significance.

One social media user, Sandra James, criticised Alabi’s remarks, questioning why he chose to focus on the pastor’s security protocol instead of the testimonies and events that defined the gathering.

“Why focus on his security when there were more remarkable things that happened at the conference?” she wrote.

The criticism comes days after the conference attracted widespread attention following the reported healing of a nine-year-old girl, Kiona, who was said to have suffered from dystrophic kyphoscoliosis with apical stenosis for three years following injuries sustained in a car accident.

According to medical records cited during the event, the condition had caused severe spinal pain and required the child to wear a neck brace.

Addressing the congregation, Kiona reportedly said doctors had planned two major surgeries on her spine.

“They are going to rip out my rib cages and repair, and put massive cages on my rib cage and spine, and on my back,” she told worshippers.

A viral Instagram video from the conference showed a large crowd erupting in celebration after the child reportedly experienced relief during a prayer session led by Pastor Idowu.

Witnesses said the pastor was making declarations when the girl’s condition appeared to improve, prompting emotional scenes, cheers and tears among attendees.
