Sokoto APC endorses Aliyu for second term
The All Progressives Congress in Sokoto State has unanimously affirmed Ahmed Aliyu as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.
The endorsement followed a consensus arrangement adopted by party members across the state’s 244 wards during the APC governorship affirmation exercise held on Thursday in Sokoto.
Delegates, party executives and stakeholders from the 23 local government areas participated in the exercise, which ended with Aliyu emerging unopposed.
Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Mukhtar Birniwa, said the adoption of the consensus option reflected the collective decision of party members and ensured a smooth and peaceful process.
According to him, the overwhelming support from all wards demonstrated the confidence reposed in the governor’s leadership and administration.
“All the 244 wards have unanimously spoken in support of Governor Ahmed Aliyu. The process has been peaceful because party members have already reached a common decision,” Birniwa said.
He, thereafter, declared Aliyu as the APC’s duly affirmed governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Sokoto State.
Speaking after the affirmation, Aliyu thanked party members and residents of the state for the confidence and support shown to him.
The governor described the endorsement as a strong vote of confidence in his administration, pledging to intensify efforts toward delivering more developmental projects and improving the welfare of citizens.
He said, “The renewed mandate from the party would further encourage my administration to consolidate on achievements recorded so far and sustain inclusive governance across the state.”
