A police officer attached to the Hotoro Division in Kano State, identified as DSP Sani Isah, has been killed during a clash involving rival thugs.
According to reports, the officer was deployed alongside other security operatives to restore order and disperse the fighting groups when one of the suspected thugs allegedly opened fire with a dane gun, striking him in the process.
He was rushed to the hospital but was later confirmed dead.
Sources described the late officer as a respected figure who had served in the police force for over three decades.
Tragically, he was said to be just a few weeks away from retirement at the time of the incident.
His death has added to growing concerns over rising thuggery and violent clashes in several parts of Kano, including Hotoro, Fagge, Koki, Gyadi-Gyadi and surrounding areas.
