UniAbuja SUG unveils 6-day programme for SUG Week 2026

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the University of Abuja has announced a six-day programme packed with activities aimed at promoting leadership, innovation, culture, entrepreneurship, and student unity.

SUG President, Comr. Yusuf Tobi Jamiu (JAMO), made the announcement while unveiling the schedule for SUG Week 2026, scheduled to hold from Monday, 18th May to Saturday, 23rd May, 2026.

According to Comr. Jamiu, this year’s edition is designed as a comprehensive student development programme that will feature leadership summits, debates, sports, fashion, entrepreneurship sessions, and grand cultural celebrations.

“SUG Week 2026 is not merely a celebration, but a reflection of purposeful student leadership and the collective spirit of the University of Abuja student community,” he said. “I encourage every student to participate actively and make the most of this platform for growth and unity.”

The week-long event, organised with the support of the University Management led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdulhakeem Fawehinmi Babatunde, will include:

• Monday, 18th May – Corporate Day: Official launch, unveiling of SUG Website, commissioning of SUG Buses, presentation of SUG Magazine, Award Ceremony, and Leadership Summit.
• Tuesday, 19th May – Old School Day: Inter-Faculty Debate Competition with vintage-themed appearances.
• Wednesday, 20th May – Jersey Day: Sports and Health Awareness activities.
• Thursday, 21st May – Denim Day: Career and Entrepreneurship Day with mentorship and innovation sessions.
• Friday, 22nd May – Fashion Show Day: Runway displays and fashion exhibition.
• Saturday, 23rd May – Fake Wedding/Owambe Finale: Grand cultural finale with music, food, and entertainment.

The SUG President called on all students to actively participate and uphold the values of unity and excellence.
