4-year-old Nigerian girl d!es after being hit by SUV in Canada


Police are investigating a collision that k!lled a four-year-old Nigerian girl, Rayna Chiziterem Okoli, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The accident occurred in a north-end neighbourhood on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
At around 5:15 p.m., the girl was walking through a parking lot in the area of 66 Street and 170 Avenue in the McConachie neighbourhood with her mother.
The girl broke free from her mother, ran onto 66 Street and was hit by a Jeep.
Police say bystanders immediately stepped in to help and called EMS.
The four-year-old was transported to the Stollery Children’s Hospital but d!ed of her injuries there.
The 23-year-old driver of the Jeep stayed on scene, and police say neither speed nor impairment is a factor in the collision.
Edmonton police say their Major Collision team is in charge of the investigation.
Rayna was described by her loved ones as a bright, joyful, and deeply cherished child who brought so much happiness into the lives of everyone around her.
Her sudden passing has left her family devastated.
Beyond the emotional pain, the family is also dealing with the unexpected costs of funeral and memorial arrangements.
They have kindly reaching out to friends, community members, and well-wishers for support during this difficult time.
A family member had set up a GoFundMe account to raise funds for the funeral and it has raised $4,925 of $20KCAD.
“Our hearts are shattered as we share the devastating news of the sudden passing of our precious daughter, Rayna Chiziterem Okoli,” the statement on the account read.
“Rayna tragically lost her life in an accident near the 66th Street NW area on Sunday, June 14th, 2026 She was only four years old.
“Rayna was a bright, joyful, and deeply loved little girl whose presence brought warmth and happiness to everyone around her.
“Losing her so suddenly has left our family in unimaginable pain. As we grieve this heartbreaking loss, we are also faced with the unexpected financial burden of funeral and memorial expenses.
“During this incredibly difficult time, we are humbly asking for support from our community, friends, and anyone moved by Rayna’s story.
“No amount is too small—every contribution will help us give Rayna the peaceful and dignified farewell she deserves.
