APC’s Shuaibu Rabiu wins Kano Federal Constituency by-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Shuaibu Rabiu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election in Kano State.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Umar Sani, announced Rabiu’s victory on Saturday after he secured a total of 35,356 votes, defeating his closest rival, Lawal Garba-Haruna of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, who polled 268 votes, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Abubakar Yahaya-Muhammad of the Labour Party, LP, came third with 98 votes.
Mr Sani said the results were collated from polling units across the constituency before the final declaration.
“The election was contested. That Rabiu Shuaibu of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” he said.
The by-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan of the New Nigeria People Party, NNPP.
