FG not doing enough on insecurity – Catholic Bishop Mamza

The Federal Government is not doing enough to curtail insecurity in the country, the Catholic Bishop of Yola, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza, has said.
Mamza, who is the immediate past chairman of the Adamawa State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), said the Federal Government is yet to show sufficient political will to end the lingering security challenges.
Speaking with journalists shortly after presiding over the closing Mass of the 2026 Yola Diocesan Pastoral Council in Yola, Mamza expressed particular concern over continued killings, kidnappings, banditry, and attacks on communities.
He said that despite repeated assurances by government authorities, the security situation in many parts of the country remains worrisome.
“The government must go beyond promises and take decisive action to address the security challenges confronting the nation,” the bishop said.
According to him, the safety of Nigerians should remain the foremost responsibility of the administration, stressing, “We are tired of failed promises.”
He advised security agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve the welfare of security personnel for effectiveness in their operations.
