Gov. Nwifuru appoints 2 new commissioners, reshuffles cabinet

Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi on Monday, appointed two new commissioners as he effected a major cabinet reshuffle through which he redeployed several serving commissioners.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chief Ikeuwa Omebe said this while briefing newsmen in Abakaliki on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.

Omebe said the move was aimed at strengthening governance and consolidating the achievements of the Nwifuru– led administration in the state.

The two new commissioners, Prof. Omari Omaka and Hon. Sylvester Nwite were appointed to head the ministries of environment and tertiary education respectively.

“Mr Chidiebere Onyia was redeployed from the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development to the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.

“Dr Ngozi Obichukwu moves from the Ministry of Aviation to Ministry of Special Projects while Prof. Ajuka Nwogo moves from the Ministry of Market Development to the Ministry of Skills Acquisition.

“Mr Okwu Udu was redeployed to the Ministry of Market Development while Mr Chinedu Nka was reassigned from the Ministry of Water Resources to that the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development,” he said.

He further disclosed that Chief Victor Chukwu moved from the Ministry of Environment to the Ministry of Water Resources.

“Chief Richard Idike moved from the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports to that of Capital City and Urban Development while Chief Sunday Inyima moved from the Ministry of Capital City to Project Monitoring ministry.

“The governor charged the new commissioners to see their appointments as a call to selfless service and contribute to the success of the administration’s people’s charter of needs agenda.

“The governor also directed that the handing-over and office assumption processes be concluded not later than the close of work on Tuesday, June 30,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Prof. Omari Omaka who heads the tertiary education ministry was re-appointed into the position after being relieved of his duties following his community’s complicity in a deadly communal conflict. (NAN)
