Horror as girl, 16, gang-raped after boyfriend lures her to home

A teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped after being lured to the home of her boyfriend. Police have arrested three suspects following the reported attack on Saturday (June 20) while the search for one other attacker continues.

The girl, 16, was reportedly lured to her boyfriend’s home where three others were lying in wait. They then allegedly raped the girl before fleeing the scene. The victim reported the attack to local police before officers launched an immediate investigation. It has been confirmed that her boyfriend, 22-year-old Summon Sheikh, has been arrested alongside two 16-year-old boys. However, one other suspect remains at large and detectives are continuing to work to track him down.

As reported by The Daily Star, the girl was allegedly attacked on Saturday afternoon before being rushed to hospital for treatment.

Mohammad Tariqul Islam, an officer from Ashulia Police Station in Savar Upazila, Bangladesh, confirmed the force identified four suspects after the reported attack. They arrested Sheikh and the two teenage boys quickly after and they have since appeared before court.

It was reported the girl’s boyfriend invited her over to his home before the attackers “took it in turns” to rape her. They fled before she reported what had happened to police.

The force then launched an urgent manhunt for the suspects overnight on Saturday before making three arrests. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fourth attacker.

Ashulia which is located on the northwestern outskirts of Dhaka. The industrial area is a major hub for clothes factories and is also home to the popular Fantasy Kingdom amusement park.

Ashulia has a population of around 317,000 people. However, due to its status as a manufacturing centre, the daily population rises hugely as over 200,000 people work in the area.
