Prominent pundit Tucker Carlson says he will no longer support the U.S. Republican Party

Longtime conservative commentator, Tucker Carlson announced a definitive split from the U.S. Republican Party ahead of the November midterm elections, dismissing the political affiliation he has defended as a prominent pundit for decades.

Speaking on the podcast “Can’t Be Censored,” Carlson stated that there is no chance he would support the Republican Party moving forward. He was quick to clarify his complete independence from the broader political establishment, adding that he is not going to support the Democratic Party either and is unsure of his next steps.

The former Fox News host’s disillusionment peaked following President Donald Trump’s decision to launch military actions against Iran. Although Carlson supported Trump during the election cycle, he subsequently issued an apology for backing the platform, stating he had unintentionally misled people.

He has directed his sharpest criticism toward the conflict, arguing it benefits corporate and foreign interests at the expense of American citizens, while attacking party leadership for failing to represent its constituency.

“They are making decisions on the basis of other criteria, what’s best for this company, what’s best for Israel, what’s best for our donors,” Carlson said. “That’s not just, like, they are off in the wrong direction, like, that is unacceptable, that’s treasonous, it’s immoral, it can’t continue.”

The departure marks a massive pivot for one of media’s most influential right-wing voices, who built his career anchoring mainstream conservative commentary.

Carlson concluded by noting he has been a highly consistent defender of the Republican Party for 35 years, but believes there is no defending its current trajectory. He stated that because he is out, he believes a lot of other voters will choose to leave the party as well.
