Horror as woman 'taken from her home, tied up and gang raped'

A woman was allegedly dragged from her kitchen, gagged, tied up and gang-raped in a horrific incident. Two men have been arrested in the Sirab area of Bangladesh.

As reported by the Dhaka Tribune, the two men were detained during a police operation on June 12. Police say the woman had been living in a rented house in the Sirab area, along with her children and husband.

At about 5.30pm on June 10, she was working in her kitchen when the men allegedly gagged her, threatened her children, and then took her to a room on the ground floor of a nearby building.

The victim told officers she was tied up and raped before returning home and telling her husband about the incident.

She then filed a report at Sonargaon Police Station, prompting officers to launch an investigation.

Golam Sarwar, officer-in-charge of the police station, said police began the operation immediately after the report was made.

It is understood that a hunt has been launched for an unspecified number of remaining suspects.

The horror comes shortly after a seven-year-old girl was reportedly raped in a different area of Bangladesh in a separate incident.

As reported by the Express, two teenage boys have been arrested following the alleged attack.

The suspects reportedly abducted the girl from her home on June 4 before locking her inside a public toilet and raping her.

Meanwhile, six men were arrested following an alleged rape in Cox’s Bazar, south east Bangladesh, on June 8. Police say a woman and her teenage daughter were gang raped after intruders cut through a window grille on their home.
