Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described June 12 as the emotional and structural bedrock of Nigeria’s modern democratic identity.

He made these assertions in a statement released via his verified social media handles on Friday, June 12, 2026, to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
