JUST IN: Court grants Sowore fresh N200m bail

The federal high court in Abuja has granted bail to Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in his ongoing alleged cybercrime trial.
Justice Mohammed Umar, who delivered the ruling on Tuesday, ordered Sowore to provide two sureties to perfect the bail conditions.
The court ruled that one of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, while the second must own landed property in Abuja.
The judge also directed the prosecution to verify both sureties before the bail conditions can be deemed fulfilled.
As part of the bail conditions, Justice Umar ordered Sowore to deposit his international passport with the deputy chief registrar of the court pending the conclusion of the trial.
Following the ruling, the court released the AAC chieftain to his legal team after his bail application was granted.
The judge subsequently adjourned the case until July 6 for the commencement of the defence in the alleged cybercrime trial.
Sowore is standing trial over alleged cybercrime offences, allegations he has consistently denied.
