The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has demanded that the state government substantiate allegations that he diverted local government funds through his son.
The former Deputy Governor was responding to claims reportedly made by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who alleged that funds from local government councils were channelled to Gwarzo through his son, Mujahid.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Gwarzo dismissed the allegations as false and a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation, describing them as baseless claims with no factual foundation.
He challenged his accusers to produce credible and verifiable evidence to support the allegations, stressing that repeated accusations in the media do not constitute proof.
Gwarzo maintained that he has consistently upheld transparency and accountability throughout his years in public service, describing the allegation as an outrageous and unfounded attempt to undermine his integrity.
He expressed confidence that the truth would eventually emerge and urged members of the public to disregard the claims.
