Makinde makes fresh appointments, names commissioner-designate

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has made fresh appointments into key positions in his administration, including the nomination of the Permanent Secretary, General Administration, Dr Olabode Taiwo Ladipo, as a commissioner-designate.

Ladipo’s name has been forwarded to the Oyo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.

The governor also approved the appointment of Arc. Ifeoluwa Akande as Chairman of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Upgrade Committee, Hon. Isola Abiodun Adekunle as Executive Adviser on Intra-Party Affairs, and Hon. Oladejo Emmanuel Oladokun as a Part-Time Member of the Local Government Service Commission.

The appointments were conveyed in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, PhD, and made available to journalists on Tuesday.

According to the letter, “the appointments take effect from July 1, 2026.”

Ladipo, a seasoned administrator and Permanent Secretary in the General Administration Department, is expected to join the State Executive Council upon confirmation by the House of Assembly, while the other appointees will assume responsibilities in their respective offices from the effective date.

Akande will chair the committee overseeing the upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the Makinde administration aimed at expanding the airport’s capacity and enhancing economic activities in the state.

Adekunle, as Executive Adviser on Intra-Party Affairs, is expected to strengthen internal party coordination and engagement, while Oladokun will serve as a Part-Time Member of the Local Government Service Commission, contributing to personnel administration and governance at the local government level.

Congratulating the appointees, Governor Makinde urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through exemplary service.

“He urged them to discharge their duties with dedication, loyalty and commitment,” the statement said.
