A 55-year-old man has been sentenced to five years in prison with hard labour after attacking his sister and causing her serious injuries in Sefwi Abrokofe in Ghana’s Western North Region.
William Gyamfi, also known as Kwasi Manso, was convicted by the Sefwi Bodi Circuit Court for attacking his 50-year-old sister, Akua Agyeiwaa, during a misunderstanding on January 17, 2026.
According to evidence presented in court, the disagreement became violent when William allegedly stabbed his sister in both eyes, leaving her with severe and life-changing injuries.
The shocking incident led to his arrest and prosecution after police began investigations.
After several court proceedings, His Honour James Mensah Donkor, who presided over the Sefwi Bodi Circuit Court, found William guilty and sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour.
Speaking to 3news, Juaboso District Police Commander Superintendent Isaac Otsin said the conviction shows the commitment of the police and the judiciary to ensuring justice for victims of violent crimes.
He also warned that violence can have serious consequences and encouraged the public to use peaceful ways to resolve conflicts.
