Nigerian Afrobeat singer Niniola Apata broke down in tears while delivering a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, Michael, at his funeral Service of Songs, offering a rare and deeply personal glimpse into a marriage she had largely kept away from public view.
Visibly overwhelmed with emotion, Niniola described Michael as her backbone, biggest supporter, and life partner, painting a picture of a union grounded in deep friendship, mutual support, and unconditional love.
She recalled a promise he made when they first met that he would make her a superstar a vow she said he kept in full.
The two-time Grammy-nominated artist described him as the driving force behind her journey, saying he was present with her from the moment she woke up each morning to the last moment of each night, and that he essentially lived and breathed for her success and wellbeing.
Niniola had stunned fans when she recently announced Michael’s passing after 13 years together.
She did not reveal the cause of his death but spoke openly about the profound void his absence has left in her life.
