Ogun provides cash support to windstorm victims

The Ogun State Government has provided additional financial support to victims of the recent windstorm that ravaged Oke-Agbede Community in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, as part of efforts to ease their hardship and help them rebuild their lives.
Presenting the cash assistance to the beneficiaries, the Director of the Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (OGSEMA), Mr. Soji Durojaye, said the intervention reflected the commitment of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration to providing timely support for residents affected by disasters across the state.
He recalled that the state government had earlier, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), distributed food items, roofing sheets, and other relief materials to victims to cushion the impact of the disaster.
Mr. Durojaye explained that the financial support was intended to complement the earlier intervention by assisting affected residents to restore their means of livelihood and recover from their losses.
The Director urged residents to plant more trees, maintain a cleaner environment, and ensure the regular clearing of drainage channels as part of measures to minimise the impact of natural disasters.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Imeko-Afon Local Government, Theophilus Olorode, represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Jamiu Yinusa, commended the Federal and State Governments for their prompt response to the plight of the victims through the provision of relief materials and financial assistance.
Also speaking, the Alagbede of Agbede, Oba Adewale Olorode, described the intervention as timely, noting that while natural disasters were unavoidable, the prompt government support had gone a long way in reducing the suffering of the affected residents.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Salau Titilayo and Mr. Abelewa Nojimu expressed appreciation to the Federal and State Governments for the assistance and prayed for the continued progress and success of the administration.
