People who frequently post about their workouts are more likely to have psychological problem-Study
People who constantly share gym selfies on social media may sometimes be seeking more than just fitness motivation. Some researchers suggest these posts can be linked to needs such as validation, attention and confidence.
A study from Brunel University London found that frequent fitness-related posts were associated with higher narcissistic traits. Some users may share workout photos because they enjoy receiving likes, compliments and social approval.
However, posting gym selfies does not automatically mean someone has a mental health problem or a personality disorder.
Experts say excessive focus on showing physical progress online may sometimes point to deeper emotional struggles, such as low self-esteem or a strong need for external approval.
For many people, fitness posts are simply a way to track progress, stay motivated or share personal achievements. The meaning depends on the person and their relationship with social media.
