A mechanic has had his clothes thoroughly soiled by his fellow workshop colleagues as part of a lighthearted traditional send-off marking his recent wedding, in scenes that have since drawn amused reactions online.
A video show the groom seated outside the workshop, his once-clean shirt and trousers now streaked with grease and grime, smiling through what appears to have been a good-natured ambush by his colleagues.
The practice, common among tradesmen’s associations and workshop communities in parts of Ghana and Nigeria, typically serves as a playful rite of passage for newlywed colleagues, marking their transition into married life with a messy, communal send-off rather than a conventional celebration.
Such workplace traditions, often involving substances like oil, flour, or paint depending on the trade, are usually carried out in good humour and mutual consent among close colleagues, doubling as both celebration and light-hearted initiation into a new chapter of life.
