In separate operations throughout the state, the Delta State Police Command reported that its agents had apprehended two suspected armed robbers and recovered a sizable shipment of suspected illegal substances.
In a statement released on Tuesday by its spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, the Command stated that on June 14, 29-year-old Moses Francis was taken into custody by members of the Ughelli Vigilante Group and the Command Anti-Vice Squad (CAVS), Ughelli.
According to the spokesman, the suspect admitted to taking part in multiple robberies, including one that took place in April 2026 along Aro Street in Ughelli.
He claimed that when the suspect guided agents to a hiding place, Cosmos Erueseke, a 26-year-old suspected gang member, was taken into custody. “Cheating,” he said.
Edafe stated that while attempts are on to capture further gang members and retrieve weapons purportedly utilized in their activities, the suspects are in custody.
A Toyota Sienna with registration number FST 242 YK was stopped by CAVS agents on stop-and-search duty in a different operation along the Ozoro/Oleh Expressway, according to the spokesman.
He stated that despite an immediate pursuit, the driver allegedly abandoned the car and ran into a nearby bush, avoiding capture.
Codeine, Tramadol, Swinol, Man G, and Vega were among the several narcotics found during a search of the car, according to Edafe.
He stated that efforts are being made to locate and capture the escaping suspect.
Yemi Oyeniyi, the Delta State Command Commissioner of Police, has praised the officers for their accomplishments.
He restated the Command’s commitment to breaking up criminal networks, fighting drug-related offenses, and bolstering statewide security.
