Putin makes bombshell Ukraine war admission – 'we see the problems'

Vladimir Putin has made a bombshell admission as Russia’s war with Ukraine rages on. The Russian President made a rare confession of setbacks in the conflict, revealing that Moscow is experiencing “problems”.

It comes following extensive cross-border attacks on Sunday (June 28) in an escalation in aerial warfare between Moscow and Kyiv. Ukraine was hit with waves of ballistic missiles before launching extensive retaliatory drone strikes. They are reported to have hit multiple oil refineries and a weapons plant in Russia. Meanwhile, recent figures show that Moscow is suffering around 30,000 casualties a month while fighting on the front line has reached a period of stalemate.

As reported by the Telegraph, Putin said at the congress of United Russia: “Yes, we see the problems, we are aware of them and are responding to them, but we will certainly ensure the security of both the country and our citizens, as well as the inviolability of Russia’s borders.

“We will undoubtedly overcome all the challenges facing us today, including terrorist attacks on our territory and infrastructure facilities.”

Ukrainian drone attacks have also sparked fuel shortages across parts of Russia. Putin added in his speech that a task force was working to ensure sufficient amounts were provided throughout the country.

His speech came after a Ukrainian drone strike killed one person in the Krasnodar region of Russia. Veniamin Kondratyev, the governor of the region, added that several houses were damaged as well as a power line and gas pipe.

An oil refinery in the region of Yaroslavl, located east of Moscow, was also struck. The Russian defence ministry said it intercepted 213 drones during the attack on Sunday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said: “We continue ⁠our operations that weaken Russia’s ability to wage this war. The Slavyansk oil refinery in the Krasnodar region was hit – about 300km (190 miles) from the frontline. We also reached a refinery in the Yaroslavl region, approximately 700km (430 miles) from our border.

“We will continue to respond to Russian terror. I thank our warriors for these results. I am grateful to everyone who helps us.”

Meanwhile, 36 injuries were reported across Ukraine in the Russian ballistic missile strikes on Sunday morning. This includes two civilians in Kyiv.
