Singer Davido Davido condemns attack on Accord Party Chairman; challenges APC to ballot box

Singer Davido has strongly condemned the recent assassination attempt on the Accord Party Chairman in Osun State. The politician survived an attack by armed gunmen in the MDS area of Osogbo.

Reacting to the incident, Davido took to his X account to denounce the escalating political tension ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election. The singer, whose uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is the Accord Party’s governorship candidate, called on stakeholders across the state to reject violence regardless of their political affiliations.

In a pointed message to the opposition, Davido challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to validate their political influence through legitimate votes rather than resorting to violence. 

“If the APC is sure they are popular, they should prove it through votes during the election and not via guns or weapons,” Davido stated

Ajibola was shot by suspected gunmen on Wednesday night, June 3, in the MDS area of Osogbo and is currently receiving treatment at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.

The Osun state governorship elections have been scheduled to hold on August 15, 2026
