Takeoff’s Death Case Reopens as Parents Clash Over Settlement Money

Nearly four years after his d£ath, a legal dispute has emerged between the parents of late rapper Takeoff over the distribution of proceeds from a wrongful d£ath settlement linked to his m*rder.

Takeoff, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, was sht and klled on November 1, 2022, at the age of 28 outside a bowling alley in the Houston area, where he had been spending time with his uncle and fellow Migos member, Quavo.

Patrick Xavier Clark was subsequently charged in connection with the rapper’s d£ath and remains out on bond while awaiting trial.

According to court documents, Takeoff’s mother, Titania Davenport, and his father, Kenneth Ball, are at odds over both the division of the settlement funds and the jurisdiction that should govern the matter.

Davenport, who filed the original wrongful d£ath lawsuit in Texas, maintains that she was the primary caregiver throughout Takeoff’s life, raising him as a single parent and supporting him before his music career gained traction. She added that once he achieved success, Takeoff provided financial support for her in return.

She further alleged that Ball played a minimal role in his son’s upbringing, contributing little financially or emotionally, and that Takeoff never extended financial support to his father.

Ball, however, contends that irrespective of his level of involvement in Takeoff’s life, he is legally entitled to half of the settlement proceeds.

He also argues that Texas remains the appropriate jurisdiction to resolve the dispute, a position Davenport contests.

She insists that Georgia where probate proceedings relating to Takeoff’s estate are already underway should have oversight now that the Texas case has been effectively settled.

The matter is now before the courts, with a judge expected to rule on both the distribution of funds and the question of jurisdiction.
