What is left for ordinary citizens? – Dalung raises alarm as armed bandits freely greet police at checkpoint

Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has expressed concern over the safety of ordinary Nigerians following a viral video that allegedly shows armed bandits moving freely through a police checkpoint.
The video, which has sparked widespread reactions online, reportedly captured a large group of heavily armed men riding motorcycles along a road between Zamfara and Sokoto states. In the footage, the gunmen were seen passing through a checkpoint while some police officers appeared to direct traffic and exchange greetings with them.
The incident has renewed concerns about security operations in the North West, a region that continues to battle persistent attacks by bandit groups.
A man believed to be recording the scene could be heard speaking in Hausa and questioning the situation as the armed convoy moved through the area without interference.
Reacting to the video on his Facebook page, Dalung described the development as a disturbing reflection of the country’s security challenges.
He questioned what hope remains for ordinary citizens if heavily armed criminals can travel openly on public highways while security personnel stationed along the roads appear unable to stop them.
According to the former minister, the sight of bandits moving in large numbers with weapons and seemingly exchanging greetings with security officers is both heartbreaking and difficult to comprehend.
