Wike’s road projects improving living standards of Nigerians in FCT, says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has declared that road projects being executed by Barr. Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), are improving the living standards of residents and easing congestion in Abuja.

Tinubu made the comment on Monday while commissioning the rehabilitated and expanded road network from the Karu Interchange to the Customs Clinic Junction and adjoining roads.

The president who was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima, said the projects reflected his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and the quality of life of Nigerians.

His words: “When we assumed office in 2023, we recognized that true development must reach where the people actually live, work, and commute.

“Indeed, this project stands as a clear testament to our promise to resolve urban congestion and uplift the living standards of our people. It is a direct product of our Renewed Hope Agenda in action.”

He said the Karu corridor had long suffered from severe traffic congestion that affected residents and businesses, adding that the newly rehabilitated roads would reduce travel time, eliminate gridlock and stimulate economic activities in the area.

Tinubu added that the installation of solar-powered streetlights along the corridor would improve security and safety for road users.

The president attributed the rapid pace of infrastructure development across the FCT to Wike’s leadership and supervision.

“I sincerely commend the Minister and his team. By prioritizing high-density, strategic satellite nodes like Karu alongside the city center, the FCT Administration is validating our governance philosophy: that the wealth of this territory must yield practical, everyday comfort for all socio-economic classes,” he said.

Tinubu also commended Abdul-Val Nigeria Limited for delivering the project on schedule, and urged residents, traditional rulers, market women and youth groups to protect the infrastructure from vandalism and indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

Speaking at the event, Wike described Tinubu’s support for infrastructure development in the FCT as unprecedented.

He said residents had continued to benefit from the administration’s development agenda and assured them that ongoing projects would be sustained.
