World Cup: ‘They’ve not contributed any’ – Bruno hits Ronaldo’s critics

Former Portugal international, Bruno Alves has said that idols such as Cristiano Ronaldo are not bound by time, and their influence remains everlasting.
He further said that some of Ronaldo’s critics have not accomplished anything significant in football.
In an Instagram post, Alves indicated that criticism should originate only from those who have excelled at a higher level than the Al-Nassr forward.
He also said that Portugal will stand by Ronaldo in every circumstance.
He stated, as reported by Goal, “Respect, idols are timeless! Many individuals discuss football without having made any contributions to the sport. Criticism should come only from those who achieve more! Cristiano, we believe in you regardless of the situation.”
Ronaldo faced substantial criticism after he was unable to score during Portugal’s 2026 FIFA World Cup match against DR Congo. He also did not manage a single shot on target, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
This unusual performance led fans and analysts to suggest that the former Real Madrid star is hindering Portugal’s progress in the tournament. Nevertheless, the 41-year-old has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to defy his critics in challenging circumstances.
Consequently, he will aim to rectify his previous performance in their upcoming Group K match against Uzbekistan on Tuesday, June 23. The match is set to take place at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
