YCee Refuses to Apologize Over “Olodo Uprising” Comment, Says He Stands by His Words

Nigerian singer, YCee, has addressed the criticisms over his controversial comment on the current trend of “brain-rot” content in Nigeria, which he labelled “olodo uprising.”

It was gathered that YCee sparked mixed reactions after using popular TikToker Peller as an example of what he described as “olodo uprising,” where Nigerians are increasingly embracing “brain-rot” content for entertainment at the expense of edutainment.

Some critics slammed him for using Peller as an example, arguing that he could have made his point without name-dropping him.

However, reacting in a recent interview on radio, YCee said he doesn’t owe anyone an apology for using Peller as an example in buttressing his point.

He stated that some people felt he shouldn’t have called Peller’s name, but maintained that he stood by what he said and that anyone offended should check themselves.

He added that a lot of people were also taking his comments out of context, noting that the “olodo uprising” is even worse than he thought, given how many people had come out to defend it.

He explained that his call was directed at people who are tired of brain-rot content, stressing that there is no reason intelligent people cannot also be streamers or content creators.
