A waakye seller in flood-affected Accra has drawn widespread attention on social media after footage emerged showing the vendor continuing to serve customers despite floodwaters completely inundating the surrounding area and submerging much of the stall itself.

The footage shows the vendor’s stall, along with customers, standing in deep brown floodwater as business continued largely uninterrupted, in a scene that has been met with a mixture of amusement and admiration online.

The exact location of the stall and the identity of the vendor have not been confirmed. The incident comes amid a week of severe flooding across Accra that has affected major commercial and residential areas including Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Achimota Mile 7, and the University of Ghana.

The video has been widely shared as an example of the resilience and determination of Ghana’s informal traders, many of whom depend on daily sales for their livelihoods and are often unable to halt operations even amid significant disruption or danger.
